Viitala excited to join T’Wolves in 2015
Marquette Senior High School senior guard Hunter Viitala made a verbal commitment to join the Northwood University basketball team beginning in 2015.
Viitala is one of the top returning guards in the Upper Peninsula. She led the Redettes to a Great Northern Conference Championship last season, averaging 21 ppg. Hunter recently visited Northwood, where she made her vow to join the Timberwolves.
“Hopefully coming in as a freshman I can produce a lot of plays, come in, learn their offense and learn their defense,” said Viitala.
“It’s very up–tempo. I think I’ll adapt very well and I’m real excited to play their style of ball. They (Northwood) were really nice throughout the whole recruiting process. They were always supporting me, asking me how I was doing, and I just love the people down there. It’s such a great school,” Viitala went on to add.
The Timberwolves went 14-13 last season, including a 12-10 mark in the GLIAC. Hunter plans on majoring in business at Northwood.
