Stafford, Detroit Lions Mutually agree to part ways

Detroit, MI – Breaking news out of the NFL over the weekend as first reported by NFL.com’s Tom Pelissero and further confirmed by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Lions and quarterback Matthew Stafford have agreed to part ways this offseason. Stafford, has been under center with Detroit for the past 12 seasons after being selected number 1 overall, out of Georgia in 2009. Currently the franchises all time leader in passing yards and touchdowns, Stafford will all but surely be moving on at age 32. New Lions head coach Dan Campbell commented on the long time quarterback amid the recent news, “I need to sit down with Brad (Holmes),” Campbell said. “Here’s what I’ll say about Matthew is man, he’s a stud, all right. He’s a stud. He’s one of the toughest quarterbacks you’ll ever see. He’s extremely talented.”
