NEGAUNEE —  It can be very hard going through a loss of a pet and it takes a lot out of the owners. Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter is trying to help members of the community who are going through these types of situations.

UPAWS is hosting an event called, “Rainbow Bridge Memorial Walk” that involves walking to honor your furry friends and pay tribute to the pets that are no longer with us. It is happening on Sunday June 24th at the Negaunee Iron Ore Heritage Trail from 11 am to 2 pm.

Registration costs $25 and you will receive “Walkers Swag” which includes a T-shirt and some other items. This march is all about celebrating pet’s lives and remembering our furry loved ones.

“This is a celebration of that bond we shared with our pets,” said, UPAWS Board President, Amber Wetton. “Also what these pets have offered to our lives and the joy they have brought to our lives and their remembrance.

People are asked to register early to make sure they get the correct shirt size for the registration fee. All the money will be put towards the new facility for UPAWS.
