Big Rig Accident Shuts Down US-2
A woman is seriously hurt in an accident with a semi that shut down US-2 in Iron County.
The Sheriff’s Department says it happened in Mastodon Township a little after 6am Central time.
45-year-old Duane Klein, of Stacy, Minnesota, was driving a big rig heading north.
He missed his turn onto County Road 424.
Police say he tried to make a U-turn on the highway.
51-year-old Cindy Levenburg of Iron Mountain, driving north in a Honda, couldn’t stop in time.
She crashed into the side of the semi.
Levenburg was taken to Northstar Health System in Iron River and later transferred to Marquette General.
There’s no word on how she’s doing.
Klein was cited for failure to yield.
US-2’s traffic was detoured for several hours while the highway was closed and cleared up.
