NMU’s Colla earns GLIAC honor

MARQUETTE, Mich. – Northern Michigan University women’s basketball player Alyssa Colla has been named the North Division Player of the Week by the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletics Conference announced the league office Tuesday.
Colla, a junior guard from Muskego, Wis., led NMU last week scoring a game-high 25 points as the Wildcats wrapped up the regular season with a 67-59 win over Michigan Tech.
Colla went 7-15 from the field and 1-3 from three-point range while draining 10-11 from the free throw line. She also collected six rebounds, two assists and had two steals against the Huskies.
This season, Colla leads the Wildcats averaging 16.8 points per game and started in all 26 regular season contests for NMU. Colla ranks second in the conference in minutes played (35.2), third in free throw percentage (99.2), third in field goals made (160-345), and fourth in points per game (16.8).
The Wildcats begin the GLIAC Tournament at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Berry Events Center hosting Northwood in a tournament quarterfinal.
