Parish appointment changed in Marquette Diocese
Father Francis Dobrzenski, administrator of the Catholic Diocese of Marquette, has announced one change in the clergy appointments that were released in April. Instead of heading to Baraga County on July 1 to serve as associate pastor of Sacred Heart Parish in L’Anse, St. Ann Parish in Baraga and The Most Holy Name of Jesus/St. Kateri Tekakwitha Parish in Assinins, Father Martin Flynn, 46, began a new assignment on May 1 as associate pastor of St. Joseph Parish in Lake Linden. Fr. Flynn’s presence at the Copper Country parish will free up the pastor, Fr. Dobrzenski, from some of his parish duties so that he can continue to lead the diocese until a new bishop is appointed.
Fr. Flynn was ordained to the priesthood on Dec. 14, 2012 by Bishop Alexander Sample at St. Peter Cathedral in Marquette. He began his four-month appointment as associate pastor of Holy Spirit Parish and Resurrection Parish in Menominee in January. Fr. Flynn was born in Marshall, Mich. but has lived in the Upper Peninsula most of his life, having resided in Gulliver, Steuben and the Manistique area. Before becoming a seminarian, he worked for Timber Products and managed rental properties.
