2019 Blueberry Festival Poster Contest now open for submissions

MARQUETTE — The Blueberry Festival is still a couple months away, but the Marquette Downtown Development Authority is getting ready with an annual contest.

The 2019 Blueberry Festival poster contest is open to artists of all ages and skill level who want a chance to have their artwork be featured as the events poster.

This will be the 18th year that the DDA has held the poster contest, and it’s always a good chance to showcase the local and regional talent in the area.

“We have a huge amount of artistic talent in the area so we get a lot of people locally that will submit different art pieces for the event,” said Tara Lasse-McKinney, the Promotions and Events Coordinator for the DDA. “We also get a lot of people from the region as well sending in things, so it just shows the wide variety of artists and artistic styles that are out there in the area.”

Anyone who wants to submit their art can do so until May 14th, and then the submissions will be displayed at a location that has not yet been determined where public will get a chance to help determine the winner through voting in person or online. The public votes will be combined with the scores from a panel of judges, and whichever artist has the highest total score will be announced as the winner.
