Menominee County Clerk Dead in Apparent Suicide
A southern U.P. elected official is found dead over the weekend after apparently committing suicide.
It’s Menominee County Clerk Mike Jasper.
State Police from the Stephenson Post found him dead at his home shortly after 10:30 Central time Saturday morning.
The county Sheriff’s Department says he died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Jasper was elected to the clerk job last year after serving as deputy clerk since 2002.
He’d also once been on the Menominee County Board.
Mike Jasper was 39 years old.
