Young Survivor of Hancock Fire Dies

More aftermath from the July fire that burned a Hancock apartment building and took 4 lives.

It may have now taken a 5th.

One of the youngest survivors of the July 25th fire died Saturday morning.

It was 5-month-old Maykayla Walker.

She was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at Portage Health.

The infant was one of the first to escape the burning building on Quincy Street.

She was carried out just moments after the fire started.

Authorities are still investigating the death and whether or not it’s related to the fire in any way.

There has been an autopsy on her body.

But medical examiners say there are still no conclusions, and there may not be any for a few days, possibly even months.
