New Marquette City Commissioners

The Marquette City Commission has a different look to it as the two new commissioners elected last week were sworn in tonight.

Sara cambensy is a former city planning commissioner.

She says she’d like the commission to work on the city’s zoning ordinance, which hasn’t been completely revised since the 1970s.

And she says she’d like to help the commission continue to improve its communication with city residents about what it’s up to.

Mike Coyne served on the commission in the 1980s and was mayor for part of that time.

He was also on the commission again more recently, from the 2005 recall until 2008.

Coyne says he’s holding off for now about bringing up things to work on until he gets settled, but he complimented the previous commission for moving the city forward with fiscal responsibility.

The commissioners also elected Johnny DePetro mayor and Bob Niemi mayor pro tem for the next year.

DePetro had been mayor pro tem until tonight.
