NMU extends visitor restrictions due to rising COVID cases
MARQUETTE — Visitor restrictions on Northern Michigan University’s campus are being extended.
The extensions are a result of rising COVID–19 cases in Marquette County.
NMU President Fritz Erickson has said that no visitors are allowed on campus, unless approved by a division leader.
Non–NMU personnel are barred from renting NMU facilities for non–NMU groups or events.
Large group activities, including intramural and club sports are also being put on pause for two weeks.
According to Erickson, NMU faculty are ready to switch to distanced learning, if necessary.
So far, 31 students have tested positive, along with 7 staff members.
