MARQUETTE– Construction projects have been piling up for a couple months and one more is now underway in Marquette.

This week a local construction company, Premeau Construction began removing the side walk on Front St. from Washington St. to Ridge St. Work will be done on both sides of the street but aside from some possible congestion- there will be no closures. In order to complete the construction lanes will be narrowed.

“The old brick pavers suffer pretty much from our weather,” Exec. Director Marquette DDA Mona Lang said. “So those brick pavers will be pulled out, we’re going to replace that with some colored stamped concrete. It’s just more of what we’ve really been trying to do downtown.”

The project costs around $200,000 and is expected to be completed by the first week of October. Pedestrian access will be maintained during the project. The city urges the public to use extreme caution, follow all warning signs, and other traffic control measures.
