Heroin bust in Sault Ste. Marie
A Sault Ste. Marie man is behind bars for his involvement in a Chippewa County heroin bust.
The Straits Area Narcotics Enforcement team conducted a search warrant at a home in Sault Ste. Marie and at an apartment in Soo Township, which led to the seizure heroin, marijuana, cash, a vehicle and other evidence.
The investigation involved heroin distribution in the eastern half of the U.P. One of the suspects in the case would allegedly travel down to southern Michigan to pick up heroin, before bringing it back to Upper Michigan where it would then be sold.
As a result, a 26-year-old Sault Ste. Marie resident was arrested for two counts of conspiracy to deliver heroin, one count of delivery of heroin, and one count of maintaining a drug house.
Assisting S.A.N.E. was the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Department and the Michigan State Police canine handler.
The investigation is ongoing and further arrests are anticipated.
