Jewelry theft charges for Gwinn residents
Two Gwinn residents are in the Marquette County Jail on charges that they robbed an elderly woman of her jewelry.
They are 25-year-old Christina Ann-Lane Koskela and 34-year-old Jason Joe Bennett.
The Marquette Police arrested them in Gwinn Thursday afternoon after a two-month investigation.
Police say the victim is Koskela’s 75-year-old grandmother.
She reported that her jewelry had been stolen from her apartment while she was away on vacation.
After checking with a local jewelry store, police say they learned that the suspects turned in the stolen items for money.
Koskela is charged with larceny in a building, a four-year felony.
Bennett is accused of conspiracy to commit larceny in a building, which is a four-year felony, and receiving and concealing stolen property worth $200 to $1,000, which is a one-year misdemeanor.
They both have a District Court preliminary exam scheduled for April 30th; Bennett is also scheduled to have a pre-trial conference that day.
