Houghton County Sheriff’s Department is investigating two car accident on M-26

HOUGHTON COUNTY — A two car Personal Injury Accident that happened on M-26 is being investigated by the Houghton County Sheriff Department.

The accident occurred at approximately 7:35 a.m., on January 22, 2020, on M-26 at the intersection of Canal Road in Portage Township. A 2019 Buick Enclave that was being driven by 83-year-old Norbert Verville, of Stanton Township, was attempting to make a left hand turn off of the Canal Road onto M-26. Verville did not properly yield at the posted sign and struck a 2013 Dodge Caravan. The Dodge Caravan that was being driven by 50-year-old Marne Anderson, of Calumet, was traveling southbound on M-26 where she was hit by the Buick.

Anderson was not injured during the crash, but Verville was transported from the scene by Mercy Ambulance of Portage Health Systems for treatment of unknown injuries. Assisting the Houghton County Sheriff Department at the scene was the Houghton and Hancock City Police Departments, Houghton and Hurontown Fire Departments, Mercy Ambulance and Superior Towing.
