First Baptist Church of Marquette to host Christmas day meal for the public

MARQUETTE — One Marquette church is hosting its second annual Christmas day meal as a way to give back to the community.

From noon until 2:00 p.m. on December 25, First Baptist Church of Marquette will be hosting a Community Christmas Lunch. The lunch is open to everyone, and there is no cost to attend.

Pastor Chad Mager says that the event was very successful last year. He hopes that this Christmas will be another opportunity to welcome and give back to those who need it most.

“It seemed to us that at Thanksgiving there were a lot of different groups that offered a Thanksgiving meal—and that’s awesome and we did it for years—but not a lot of places do it on Christmas day,” said Pastor Mager. “And what bigger time is there that you don’t want to be alone? And there’s so much loneliness. People have suffered loss this time of year, or families aren’t here, or sometimes they find themselves without the means to have a nice meal. So we wanted to step up and give back our Christmas day so that others can have something special.”

First Baptist Church will be providing transportation for anyone who would like to attend that needs a ride. The church can be reached at (906) 226-2014 to request transportation.
