Marinette County records first traffic fatality for 2019
MARINETTE — The first fatality for 2019 in Marinette County has officially been reported.
The Marinette County Medical Examiner was notified that Brent A. Recla, the victim of an April 13th crash, died in a Green Bay hospital after complications from his injuries.
Recla, 38, was alone in his pickup truck when he was westbound on US Highway 8 near the town of Niagra just after midnight on April 13th, when he failed to stop at a stop sign at US-141. He then crashed through highways signs, when his vehicle went into the west embankment of US-141.
Niagra Fire and Rescue and Paramedics extricated him from the wreckage, then he was transferred to a hospital in Green Bay.
Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
