Pedestrian dies after being struck by a vehicle

IRON MOUNTAIN — At approximately 12:06 a.m. on Sunday April 21st, the Dickinson County Sheriff’s office 911 Dispatch received information of a vehicle pedestrian accident on US-2 near the entrance of Home Depot.

Deputies arriving on scene located a 20-year-old male from Florence, Wisconsin in the eastbound lanes. It was determined that the male subject had been struck by an eastbound vehicle driven by a 64-year-old female resident of Dickinson County. The subject was treated on the scene and taken by Integrity Care Ambulance service to Dickinson County Memorial Hospital where he later died from his injuries.

Michigan State Police Accident Investigators are handling the crash scene reconstruction. Dickinson County Sheriff’s Deputies conducted interviews that discovered the male subject entered the traffics curb lane from the area of Home Depot and stood in traffic prior to being struck by the eastbound vehicle. Investigation is ongoing and no other information or names are being released at this time.

The Dickinson County Sheriff’s office was assisted on scene by the Michigan State Police, Integrity Care Ambulance and LR Vincent Towing.
