MARQUETTE–  Saturday was a day of remembrance and celebration of Carlo Estupigan, an NMU student who passed away a few months ago.

A passionate photographer and nature enthusiast, Carlo Estupigan’s photography was once featured on the front page of the Mining Journal.

Held in the atrium of the New Science facility on NMU’s campus, attendees shared favorite memories and stories, while admiring his nature photographs and the bird specimens he worked on.

Everyone from his friends, classmates and 20 family members were in attendance for his memorial.

Even former professors and President Fritz Erickson attended the event, to pay their respects to the former NMU biology student.

Carlo Estupigan was an NMU student who got caught in a snowstorm and passed away in January of this year.
