MARQUETTE — Although it is not winter yet, parks in the City of Marquette are about to transition to winter hours.

As winter slowly approaches, daylight gets shorter and there is not as much time for recreation.

Park hours will go from 8 a.m. Until 8 p.m. And those hours will begin on November 1st.

“So we have a lot of seasonal facilities, from our beaches to the campground, there’s a lot of seasonal restrooms that we close down” said Assistant Director of Community Services, Andrew MacIver. “Just anything that generally gets covered in snow that prohibits that summertime recreation.”

Even though some parks will close, there is still hiking, cross-country skiing, and everything on the trails that will be open.

The campground will convert into an off-leash dog park as well.
