US-41, M-26, M-203 paving near Calumet starts June 20th

CALUMET/LAURIUM — Paving work in Houghton and Keweenaw counties near Calumet and Laurium is set to start on June 20th.

The Michigan Department of Transportation is investing $1.7 million to mill and resurface about 7 miles of roadway, repair joints, apply pavement markings and upgrade concrete sidewalk ramps to Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards. The project is covered by a three-year pavement warranty.

The areas that will experience construction are:

  • US-41 from Agent Street north to Cliff Drive
  • M-26 from Winona Street to Wolverine Street
  • M-203 from 11th Street to US-41 in Houghton and Keweenaw counties.

The work will require lane closures under flag control, as well as shoulder closures. To view a project map, click HERE.
