MARQUETTE — One of the best parts about living in the U.P. is the ability to connect with others. A local retailer is joining that trend.

Upper Peninsula Supply Company opened its doors this week. They decided that it was time to start retailing in person after being in business for almost ten years.

“We’ve been strictly an online vendor up Upper Peninsula goods since 2008. So this is our first foray into the brick and mortar world,” said owner Bugsy Sailor.

The chance to sell in person provides a unique opportunity to connect with other Yoopers across the city of Marquette.

“For ten years, I never met my customers,” said Sailor. “I love having people walk in the door now, and get a chance to have a conversation, and hear their stories.”

“Just yesterday we had a woman whose kids were swimming in all five Great Lakes, so she wanted a shirt that had the name of all of the Great Lakes. It was just really fun to hear that story behind why people are shopping and what they love here,” he said.

They are collaborating with some other companies, and will feature a back area with art on display. The store hours are 10:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. Monday-Saturday. They are located at 221 W Washington St. in Marquette.
