NEGAUNEE TOWNSHIP — Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be a member of the Michigan State Police? The MSP Negaunee Post is looking for people to join its upcoming Citizen’s Academy.

The academy meets once a week for two months beginning next month. Citizens will have the opportunity to become familiar with how the state police conduct traffic stops, criminal investigations and more.

The academy will also give citizens the chance to get to know the people who work at the post.

“It’s an opportunity to come in and see what we do during our work week. We welcome the public to come. It’s an eight-week session for one-day a week,” said Trooper Stacey Rasanen of the MSP Negaunee Post. “We want to make sure that people come and take advantage of this, so they can actually see it from our perspective as far as what goes on and why we do the things that we do,” Rasanen added.

Individuals interested in attending the Citizen’s Academy should contact Trooper Rasanen at the post. The MSP Gladstone Post is also hosting a Citizen’s Academy starting next month.
