North Girls beat South Girls in UP All-Star Classic

MARQUETTE — The U.P. All–Star Classic took place this past weekend at Marquette Senior High School and the girls game was a fun one to watch.

The North topped the South 72–49, behind strong performances from Hancock’s Taylor Pertile and Gwinn’s Tori Lauren.
The team talked afterwards about how it felt to participate in this special event.

“Really great, especially since I couldn’t finish out my senior year the way I’d liked to. I’m really happy with how my thumb handled throughout this and it’s fairly strong. I couldn’t be happier with this. I was just glad I got to come play,” Lauren said.

“For years, I’ve been kind of following most of them just hearing names and seeing them at camps and in games, and it’s fun to have them on my side. I love the kids I coach here at Marquette, but when you get to see some of these kids that have won state titles and Dream Team stuff and are going on to play, it’s an honor to do it,” said Smith.

Lauren says she will be attending Lakeland College in Sheboygan Wisconsin next season.
