15–year–old quadruplets sing in quartet

NEGAUNEE — A set of 15–year–old quadruplets that sing vintage barbershop tunes have made their way through Marquette County. ABC 10’s Caleb Scanlon brings us a look at Vintage Mix Quartet.

That’s barbershop for Vintage Mix Quartet. The group is made up of quadruplets Ian, Kelsey, Anika, and Julia Shoppach who are all currently 15-years old. These young singers bring old music to audiences of all ages.

“We try to, kind of, bridge the generations,” said Bass Singer Ian Shoppach, “reaching out to youth and singing for people in retirement homes.”

“They really enjoy those songs,” said Baritone Singer Anika Shoppach, “it takes them back to their war times. We really enjoy doing that and bringing joy to them.”

The siblings have performed throughout the country, including singing the national anthem at a Milwaukee Brewers game in front of roughly 35,000 people. They recently sang and gave presentations at schools in Negaunee and Ishpeming.

“One thing that we really love to do now is to educate our age group at barbershop,” said Lead Singer Kelsey Shoppach, “because that’s one thing that we really want to do. We want to keep this wonderful art–form going.”

The group’s last performance in the area for now will be at the Spring Fling Sing on Saturday at Peterson Auditorium in Ishpeming. The event starts at 3 p.m.
