Eskymos hope early season tests pay off later

The Escanaba high school baseball team has played a brutal schedule to begin the season.Escanaba made two road trips during the month of April. The Eskymos played two of the top programs in the state of Michigan in Essexville and Bay City Central.

If that wasn’t tough enough, Escanaba traveled to Wisconsin for a tournament that included the likes of Kenosha Tremper and Fox Valley Lutheran.

Playing those tough teams has already been beneficial for this ball club. Escanaba has just three seniors on the roster, so the team has quickly gained experience playing tough teams in tough situations, which Eskymos head coach Kirk Schwalbach hopes pays off for his team as the season progresses.

Escanaba has a 5-7 record entering play this weekend against the Kingsford Blues.
