Skier with a new hip hits the slopes

Keeping an active lifestyle and enjoying the great outdoors is almost expected by Upper Michigan residents.

57-year old Frida Waara , of Marquette, is an avid skier. But between the aging process and the stress that skiing puts on the body, she ended up needing a hip replacement. Even though she had a successful surgery, Waara knew that rehab would play a large part in her getting back on the slopes. Frida had her hip replaced in October of 2012.

She told her doctors she wanted to be ready for the upcoming ski season. After a lot of hard work and dedication she has returned to the sport she loves. Therapists who worked with Waara during her recovery, say helping patients be able to do the things they love is one of the best parts of their job.
