Moped vs. Truck Accident
A Houghton County man is waiting to be arraigned on drunk driving charges after a collision with two girls on a moped.
The accident happened around 9 p.m. Wednesday night.
Two juvenile girls were riding on a moped on 2nd street in Coburntown of Franklin Township.
Michigan State Police from the Calumet post say the girls disregarded a stop sign at Center Street and collided with a pickup truck.
Both girls sought treatment at portage hospital for minor injuries.
The driver of the truck: a 35 year old male from Dollar Bay was not injured.
During the investigation officers determined the man had been drinking and arrested him for operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
He is currently being lodged at the Houghton County Jail.
The driver’s name has not been released.
The accident remains under investigation.
