Little Trout Lake Fishing

This year’s Michigan summer free fishing weekend is tomorrow and Sunday.
Anyone can fish in Michigan waters without buying a license from the DNR.
The Sawyer Community Alliance is using the occasion to launch a family–friendly fishing day.
300 bluegills were recently released into Little Trout Lake, and tomorrow, 300 rainbow trout will also be released there.
200 trout will be released right into the lake.
The others will be in a separate pond.
After catching those, parents and kids can either release them into the lake or take them home.
Dale Throenle of the Sawyer Community Alliance says the group is partnering with the DNR to re-instate fishing in the lake after a long absence and make the adjoining park more usable for county residents.
The alliance’s Family Fun Day runs from 11 to 3 tomorrow at Little Trout Lake Park.
It’s just off of Scorpion Street at K.I. Sawyer.
