Fire Destroys Forsyth Twp. Home

No one was injured, but a Marquette County home was destroyed by fire this afternoon.

The blaze was reported just after noon today on Wagon Wheel Lane in Forsyth Township.

the house was fully engulfed in a matter of minutes.

The rural location of the home required water to be brought in on fire tanker trucks.

The constant re–filling of the tanker trucks added to the difficultly in fighting this inferno.

The fire flared up multiple times as fire crews replenished the water supply.

A major concern to the fire fighters — the thick jack pine forest in the area.

The Department of Natural Resources had a spotter plane in the air to watch for signs of the fire spreading to the trees.

The heat from the fire was yet another obstacle for the heavily-geared firemen.

The Forsyth Township Fire Department was assisted by fire crews from Negaunee, Sands Township and Palmer.

No word yet from Forsyth Township on what may have caused the fire.
