MDOT Cuts Hours at Welcome Centers
State budget issues are forcing MDOT to cut back on the hours at the state’s 14 welcome centers.
The welcome centers are located mostly near state border crossings, although there’s also one on US-41 in Marquette at the rock cut.
The centers offer maps, travel brochures, information on tourist attractions and help with hotel and other accommodations.
There are 6 centers in the U.P.
They’ll now be closed on weekends after being open from 9 to 5 every day until now.
