Record Haul for May Fest

It seems as if the weather played a big part in Ishpeming’s May Fest carnival over the weekend.

This year saw yet another record-breaking event.

Record crowds came out to First Street in Ishpeming to take a ride on the attractions the Skerbeck Brothers Shows brought up from Escanaba.

And the Skerbecks cut a pair of checks.

The donations come out to more than $6,600.

It’s more than $3,300 each for Bay Cliff Health Camp and the Ishpeming Firemen’s Association.

Bay Cliff is using its half of the proceeds for therapy services for campers this summer.

The Ishpeming Firemen’s Association plans to use its half to pay off an antique fire truck.

This now makes a new fundraising record for May Fest every year that it’s been held.

It was founded in 2004 and, except for 2008, has been held every year since then.
