Tax Day No Longer Brings Mailing Rush

The return of Tax Day has traditionally meant a frantic day for post offices as people try to get their returns to the IRS before closing time.

But that’s not so much the case anymore.

Reports show that somewhere between 60% and 80% of all individual returns are submitted online through e-filing.

The Marquette Post Office didn’t see a big last-minute rush before closing its doors as usual at 5pm.

Customer service supervisor Brandon Nicholas says that while people were still coming in to mail their returns and make sure they were postmarked in time, today was basically business as usual.

If you neither mailed your return today or file online by midnight tonight, hopefully you already filled out Form 4868 for a 6-month filing extension.
