L’Anse Abuse Case Heads to Circuit Court

The L’Anse man accused of nearly killing his ex-girlfriend’s infant daughter is back in court February 3rd.

26-year-old James Cribbs II had his preliminary exam in District Court today.

The judge found enough probable cause that a crime had been committed for Cribbs to go to trial.

His next court date is a Circuit Court arraignment for 1st-degree child abuse.

Cribbs and the 17-month-old girl were alone last September when she suffered a serious brain injury.

The injury left the girl partially paralyzed and near death.

Doctors have said they think the girl may have been shaken.
