Another Hung Jury in Arson Case

A Delta County man gets a repeat result the second time he’s tried for arson.

It’s another hung jury for 59-year-old Randy Nelson.

The jury got the case yesterday afternoon.

And after breaking for the night, they picked back up this morning.

The jurors told the judge they couldn’t reach a unanimous verdict either way, guilty or not guilty.

The same thing happened at Nelson’s original trial in May.

He’d been accused of burning down his Brampton Township home in January 2007 for the insurance money.

If he’d been convicted of arson of an insured dwelling, he could have served up to 10 years in prison.
