Victims’ Names Released from Mackinac Hit-And-Run

Police in Mackinac County are still looking into the weekend hit-and-run accident where 2 pedestrians died.

But the Sheriff’s Department has released the names of those 2 victims.

They were 24-year-old Sara Dobbrastine of downstate Kent City and 31-year-old Julie Hatch of Durham, North Carolina.

But 3 other pedestrians were also run over.

Police say the most seriously hurt one of them is Jonel Hoogterp, who’s also from Durham, North Carolina.

She’s in critical condition at Marquette General Hospital.

28-year-old Dustan Bowen of downstate Sanford is in the county jail on a million dollars’ cash bond.

Authorities say they don’t have any connection between him and the 5 victims.

Those pedestrians were attending a family reunion when the crash happened Saturday night in Newton Township.
