Swimmer Shooting Suspect May Drop Insanity Plea

The Kingsford man accused of the Menominee River swimmer shootings is expected to drop his insanity plea next week.

That’s according to the Wisconsin Department of Justice.

38-year-old Scott Johnson has a hearing next Thursday.

All 3 teens who died at the East Kingsford Train Bridge July 31st were from the U.P. side of the state line.

They were 17-year-old Tiffany Pohlson of Norway, along with 18-year-old Anthony Spigarelli and 19-year-old Bryan Mort, both from Iron Mountain.

20-year-old Daniel Gordon of Kingsford was wounded in the attack.

Johnson also faces 6 counts of attempted 1st-degree intentional homicide with a dangerous weapon, and 1 count of 2nd-degree sexual assault.

His trial is scheduled to start in mid-March.
