Portage Health Donation for Safer Space

A hospital in the western U.P. gets a financial lift that should make it a much more comfortable place for patients.

Portage Health in Hancock has just received a $50,000 donation.

It comes from the hospital’s ladies’ auxiliary group.

The money will get renovations started on the Inpatient Unit, including new floors and an improved family waiting area to make for a more welcoming atmosphere.

The renovations won’t only make the area look better; they should make it safer as well.

The money mainly came through sales proceeds at the gift shop, which the auxiliary runs.

Since the current hospital was completed in 2000, the auxiliary has donated well over $250,000 to it.
