New Buyer May Be in the Works for Old Bell Hospital
The old home of Bell Hospital is given a new status which may make it more attractive to local buyers.
The Ishpeming city council granted the old hospital property Obsolete Property Rehabilitation Area status in order to get the building sold quickly.
Wednesday night, Bell Hospital CEO Rick Ament said a potential buyer is interested in the old hospital.
He also said the new buyer is in a type of business that would add 50 to 55 new jobs to Ishpeming.
The rehabilitation status means the new company would be offered an abatement tax rate.
That would keep the owner from having to pay taxes on what’s changed in the renovations.
