NMU runner earns GLIAC weekly award

BAY CITY, Mich. – Northern Michigan University freshman Kameron Burmeister (Menominee, Mich.) has been named the GLIAC women’s cross country runner of the week after finishing in 11th place at the Roy Griak Invitational with a time of 22:47. Burmeister helped lead Northern Michigan to a 3rd place finish in the 35 team field behind #4 ranked Minnesota-Duluth and #10 ranked Augustana.

As a team, the Wildcats ran a tight race with their top five runners finishing within a minute of each other and only 21 places separated Burmeister and the No. 5 finisher for the Wildcats.

NMU is currently ranked No. 6 in the USTFCCA Midwest Regional rankings a four-place jump from their 10th place ranking last week.

Burmeister also led the team in their first meet of the year at the Spartan Invitational when she finished 26th overall, 11th amongst D-II runners, with a time of 22:29.

The Wildcats will next compete at the Lucian Rosa Invite, hosted by UW-Parkside, Saturday, October 11th. Race time is set to start at 10 a.m.
