UPDATE 7:52 p.m. Friday, July 5

A 54-year-old Ishpeming man was taken to the hospital after being hit by a car on his motorcycle Friday afternoon.

The Marquette County Sheriff’s Department says Glenn Pizziola was struck by a 2005 Pontiac Bonneville driven by Roseanne Anderson, 74, of Ishpeming.  The accident happened on U.S. 41 near Northwoods Road in Marquette Township.

Anderson was pulling out of Northwoods Road onto U.S. 41 and struck Pizziola, who was driving westbound on 2010 Harley Davidson.  Pizziola was transported to Marquette General Hospital for the treatment of non-life threatening injuries, but police do now know his condition or extent of injuries.

Anderson and her passenger, husband Paul Anderson, 76, were not injured in the accident.  She was cited for Failure to Yield the Right of Way.

There was another accident on a busy stretch of U.S.41 in Marquette Township Friday afternoon involving a car and a motorcycle.

It happened just before 4 p.m. in front of Gordon Food Service on the westbound side of U.S. 41.

The motorcycle knocked into deep grass off the side of the road.  Both the car and motorcycle had to be towed from the scene.

Westbound traffic was reduced to one lane.

The Marquette County Sheriff’s Department, Michigan State Police and Marquette Township Fire Department were all on scene.
