U.P. man named to Commission on Aging Panel
A Marquette man is on the list of people named today by Governor Rick Snyder to the Michigan Commission on Services to the Aging.
“These skilled individuals will provide their talents and expertise in health and long-term care. I look forward to their work as we continue to provide our aging and vulnerable Michigan citizens with quality care and service,” Snyder said.
The commission is a 15-member body appointed by the governor. It advises the governor and Legislature on coordinating and administrating of state programs and priorities that affect Michigan’s older citizens. A majority of the members must be at least 60 years of age and no more than eight may be from the same political party.
Jerry Irby, of Marquette, is retired from the Prudential Insurance Co. He currently serves as a juvenile court diversion mentor for the Marquette County Juvenile Court and as chairman of the Marquette County Aging Services Board. Irby previously served as president of the Marquette Kiwanis Club, as a member of the Marquette County Commission and as mayor of Marquette.
Other appointees include Shannon English, Harold Mast, Jeffrey Schade and Kristie Zamora. Appointees will serve three-year terms expiring July 28, 2014. Their appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
