Learning about equipment and easier sign up for the WEIRD Indoor Bike Race

ISHPEMING — With the Weird Indoor Bike Race only days away it’s a good idea to get signed up and get your equipment ready.

The indoor race will involve using trainers, and so there are specific requirements for the equipment when using these devices. This is important to know due to the fact the event is asking people to bring their own bikes for the race.

Luckily most bikes these days should not have any problem being equiped with the trainers. Although for reference the devices allow for 650b, 700c, 26″, 27″ and 29″ wheel sizes – up to a 2.0 tire. The tires that would be most suitable for the trainers are road, commuter, smooth or trainer tires.

“The nice thing about these trainers that we are using is that most bikes nowadays will fit in them,” said Spencer Prusi, Weird Planinng Committee Member. “There is a certain type of bike like a mountain bike with a through-axle in the rear that would need an adapter. Although if you have a standard quick release for a road, gravel or even a lot of the mountain bike’s that have been out there for years; that quick release rear axle will work perfectly.”
