Reporter Selena Potila reports at Barrel + Beam for the Hiawatha Annual Meeting and Dinner Dance.

The Hiawatha Music Co-op fosters a love for traditional music genres like Bluegrass, Dixie Land, Cajun, and Jazz. As a unifying force, music brings people together, and the annual meeting serves as a celebration of the dedicated volunteers and staff who keep the festival running. According to executive director Terri Bocklund, this cooperative effort allows members to share their passion for music, build friendships, and enjoy a lively evening with free dinner and great music. Bocklund remarked, “It’s a way for us to just love on our members and the volunteers who keep this festival running.”

Beyond the music, business matters took center stage during the gathering. Discussions ranged from newly elected board members to fundraising strategies and the eagerly anticipated Hiawatha Music Festival. The festivities commenced with the soulful tunes of local musician Mike Waite and his talented band, setting the stage for a memorable and harmonious evening.
