MARQUETTE, Mich – With just a little over three weeks away from the beginning of the 2021–22 women’s soccer season kicking off, ABC10’s Sports Director David Cesefske spent some time with head coach Jon Sandoval to get a feel of how the team was looking as we near competition. NMU’s Women soccer is coming off an impressive 8–3–1 season which happened to be Sandoval’s first at the helm and the best record for NMU since 2011. Also a season that saw the Wildcats advance to the GLIAC Championship match, which was the first time in program history.
Sandoval is clearly building something at NMU, a team that was picked to finish 9th far exceeded expectations. A big part of that is because as coach says “the team isn’t chasing wins and losses, their chasing significance, respect and banners.”
