One dead after snowmobile accident in Mackinac Township
HUDSON TOWNSHIP — One person is reported dead after a fatal snowmobile crash in Hudson Township in Mackinac County.
Mackinac County Sheriff deputies responded to the scene, which occurred 1/4 mile west of Borgstrom Road, at around 3:00 pm on Wednesday, January 1st near the shore of Lake Michigan.
The deceased male, 77-year-old Norman James Bass from Goodrich, Michigan, was operating an unfamiliar snowmobile, which is considered to be a contributing factor. Norman reportedly missed a turn and struck a tree.
Norman was transported to Helen Newberry Joy Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Alcohol and speed are not believed to be contributing factors in the accident.
