Negaunee Public Library selected to participate in Libraries Lead with Digital Skills

NEGAUNEE — The American Library Association (ALA) announced that the Negaunee Public Library was selected to participate in Libraries Lead with Digital Skills, an initiative of ALA and the Public Library Association (PLA).

This grant is sponsored by, Grow with Google, the tech company’s economic opportunity initiative. The Grow with Google initiative draws on Google’s 20-year history of building products, platforms, and services that help people and businesses grow.

The Negaunee Public Library will use the funding that this grant provides to assist job seekers to reach their goals while doing so with technology.

“One of biggest things is that it gets the word out that libraries can help people with their job seeking,” said Jessica Holman, Library Director at the Negaunee Public Library. “It is going to be a great way for various people in the community to connect with each other. So it is going to be great for everybody involved I think.”

Charles Wallace and Kelly Steelman of Michigan Technological University will train the students using their Building Adult Skills in computing program, from 4-7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 23. Sessions for job seekers to come into the Negaunee library for assistance will be scheduled after that.
