Beacon House sale falls through, organization close to fundraising goal

MARQUETTE — Last week, a pending sale of the current Beacon House property on Third Street fell through due to financial difficulties on the buyer’s end.

The asking price, which was $1.5 million, has now been dropped down to $1 million. CEO Mary Dowling says that while it was disappointing to see, she’s hopeful that the property will be sold soon, as other interested buyers have come forward over the last few months.

“With the amazing realtor that we have, Darlene Martin from Select Realty, she’s been tremendous,” said Beacon House CEO, Mary Dowling. “She kept in contact with nearly a dozen other people who had become interested in the Beacon House after we had accepted that last offer.”

The Beacon House has raised over $2 million towards their initial $3 million goal to start the groundbreaking process, and they are always looking for pledges toward their fundraising efforts.
