Wattsson & Wattsson re-opening in sight

MARQUETTE — Wattsson & Wattsson Jewelers in downtown Marquette has been temporarily closed since last week due to water damage.

According to U.P. General Contracting, the company responsible for the repairs, a condensate line in front of store overflowed due to cold weather. The condensation then ran down the wall and affected the dry wall at the store front and caused the floor below to swell.

“It affected the under-layment of the flooring, so we had to remove all the flooring and kind of start all over, and of course, as soon you remove a layer of flooring, you find multiple layers of flooring. It took a little bit more time, but we’re excited and we’re making some good progress,” said Klint Miller, CEO of U.P. General Contracting.

Miller said the issue is common for this time of year. Although an exact re-opening date has not been set, construction is expected to wrap-up by the end of next week.

In the meantime, the jeweler can be contacted by phone at (906) 228-5775, email  at store@wandwjewelers.com or Facebook (click HERE).
