IRON MOUNTAIN — Over the weekend, the performers involved in the Dickinson County Community Theatre’s production of Rent had the opportunity to work with an actor who jumpstarted their Broadway career with the same show.

Tony Vincent performed in the hit musical on Broadway in 1998. A representative from Vincent’s team found out that the group was putting on Rent, and asked if they could send someone to workshop the show with them.

Vincent said he jumped at the opportunity to travel to Iron Mountain and work with the cast.

“At the end of the day, it’s about delivering a story that is honest, otherwise you’re never going to impact an audience. That’s really what this kind of experience is for both of us: for me and for them,” said Vincent.

In addition to working with the cast, Vincent sang two songs in a preview concert on Saturday to promote the show. Director Sophie Sam said it was a pleasure working with Vincent and the rest of the cast on such an important show.

“This show is about real people in real situations in American today, and it’s so important that we just keep that in mind,” said Sam. “We see so many shows today that just, they aren’t about anything, but this about American right now, and it’s so important to see that.”

You can see Rent at the Braumart Theater in Iron Mountain on January 25th-27th and February 1st-3rd at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are available at the door or you can click HERE to buy them online.
